Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

Wedsnday night didn't go well for the Astros. Houston lost 16-6. Starter Collin McHugh only went 1/3 of an inning. Long man Michael Feliz pitched 107 pitches in relief.

The Astros needed to add another arm to fill as the long man with Feliz spent. Houston as recalled starter Chris Devenski to the major league club, as reported by the MLB.com's Brian McTaggart:

Devenski, 25, was drafted in the 25th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox. Devenski was the player to be named later in the Brett Myers deal back in 2012.

Devenski pitched all of 2015 with Double-A Corpus Christi, he posted a 7-4 record with a 3.01 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 24 approaches (17 starts).

The more interesting aspect of the move is the fact the Astros will have to make a corresponding 40-man roster move. Brad Peacock and Asher Wojciechowski weren't called up for the job, which may result in either being a prime target to designated for assignment.

UPDATE

The Astros have designated Danny Reynolds for assignment to make room for Devenski on the 40-man roster -- as reported by MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.

Reynolds, 24, was drafted out of high school in the sixth round of the 2009 draft by the Los Angeles Angels. The Astros claimed Reynolds off waivers from he Los Angles Dodgers on Dec. 23, 2016.

Reynolds made 26 starts in Angels minor leagues system in 2013 but covered to relieving full time in 2014 and 2015.  In 2015, he posted a 2-3 record with a 4.57 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP in 43 appearances with Double-A Arkansas.

During Spring Training, he appeared in two major league games. Reynolds allowed one earned run over two innings -- walked two and struck out none.
