Singleton launches bombs. Paulino and Bowers mow 'em down.

Singleton Launches Two Bombs in 9-6 Loss

Jon Singleton hasn't been a standout hitter in this young season. As a result he's now hitting sixth in the lineup. But, have no fear the tools that made him a hot prospect. Knocking two home runs takes a lot of talent. It takes power. True power. If only he could make more consistent contact....

Smith Makes First Start for Hooks since 2014

And it didn't go well. He did complete two innings in his third appearance of the season but allowed five runs (one earned). He did give up a grand slam...

But, the great news is that David Paulino struck out six and allowed just one hit. Both he and Guduan lit up radar guns and sat hitters down.

Deetz Looses Control in 7-5 Loss

Dean Deetz has electric stuff which makes him a very interesting prospect. Problem is that he has episodes like last night where he can't find the strike zone. Six walks in less than five innings is really rough.

Although, there's a positive with Nick Tanielu. He just hit and hit....and hit in Quad Cities last season but was held back from a promotion. He had a great OBP so it was presumable that the power held him back. Everybody has power in Lancaster and he hit his first home run last night. Hopefully it will help him develop some.

Bower K's 9 in 4-3 QC Win

Matt Bower faced sixteen hitters and sat nine of them down via the strikeout. Six of those were swinging strike outs which indicates some good swing and miss type stuff. Remember that he was a 23rd round pick used as a reliever in college. He had a K/9 over 9 his junior year and continued that trend last season in Greeneville.
