The Houston Astros took one more step towards the 2016 season on Friday as the team announced their 2016 Opening Day roster. The Astros will carry 13 position players and 12 pitchers.

The position players include 2015 American League Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa, 2015 Gold Glove award winner and Silver Slugger winner Jose Altuve, Jason Castro, Erik Kratz, Matt Duffy, Marwin Gonzalez, Luis Valbuena, Tyler White, Carlos Gomez, Jake Marisnick, Colby Rasmus, George Springer and Preston Tucker.

The pitchers are 2015 American League Cy Young award winner and back-to-back Gold Glove award winner Dallas Keuchel, Scott Feldman, Michael Feliz, Josh Fields, Mike Fiers, Doug Fister, Ken Giles, Luke Gregerson, Will Harris, Collin McHugh, Pat Neshek and Tony Sipp.

Tyler White was added to the 40-man roster and Michael Feliz was recalled after the Astros added designated hitter Evan Gattis (sports hernia surgery), right-handed pitcher Lance McCullers (shoulder soreness) and catcher Max Stassi (fractured left hook of the hamate bone) to the 15-day disabled list. All three players are expected to be back in the early part of the season.

Three rookies are on the Opening Day roster: Feliz, Duffy, and White. 15 players return from the 2015 Opening Day roster. The three rookies, Correa, and Tucker make their first Opening Day roster.
