The Houston Astros started off their home campaign on the right foot with a handful of extra-base hits and an 8-2 win over the Royals. The Astros sent out Mike Fiers in game two against Kris Medlen who make his first start of the season.

Fiers allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings against the Yankees in his first start. Fiers aims to right the ship like Collin McHugh the night before.

In one start against the Royals during the regular season, Fiers allowed six runs on eight hits over five innings in 2015. In the playoffs, he pitched one relief against Kansas City and gave up a run.

Current Royals are batting .278 (10x36) against Fiers with .345 BABIP, 3.002 FIP, 15.56 K%, and a 9.00 BB%.

Medlen was skipped in the first go-around of starts for the Royals. He will be making his first start of the season on Tuesday. This spring, he was 1-1 with a 5.94 ERA.

Medlen signed with the Royals before the 2015 season and was sent the 60-day disabled list twice during the year.
