The AL Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel took the mound for the first time this spring, the result: 2 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 strikeout and a ton of groundball outs.
The first inning was a little rocky (just a little) after two outs, Freddie Freeman drew a four-pitch walk, then Adonis Garcia took the first pitch he saw and smacked a double. Keuchel would regroup and get Kelly Johnson to strike out on three straight swings and misses.
In the words of Russel Casse in the movie Independence day "Hello, boys! I'm backkkkk!"
"Felt great to get back out there," Dallas Keuchel said, "I'd like to have a few of those fastballs back it felt like I was all over the place."
Keuchel was not is normal, over the top amazing self but it was enough to get the job done.
"All and all I'll take it, but gotta fine tune bit a little more, Keuchel said of his first outing, "I got four more starts and will look to see what I got next time."
As he starts to get back into the groove of things, the Cy Young winner will start getting more and more sharper as the innings start to add up.
Opening night is still a ways off, but as off now, the pitching staff seems A-OK!
