Diddy must have made "I'm Coming home" specifically for Wandy Rodriguez, after almost five years away, he's home...
Just look at some of the lyrics and tell me he wasn't thinking of the little lefty.
Back where I belong -
I’ve never felt so strong eh -
Feeling like there’s nothing that I can’t try
And if you feel me put your hands high, high, high, hey
No truer words have been spoken about a reunion...
On Friday, he let Houston know he was back. Yes it's just his first outing of Spring training, but Wandy dominated. In two innings pitched the little lefty allowed one hit, struck out four, and completed a pick-off play.
"This is not his first camp," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said of Wandy's outing on Friday, "he knows how to prepare himself, he's trying to make the team."
By all accounts, the outing Wandy had was great. He was able to get swings and misses, he worked quick, didn't throw many balls, and while he doesn't throw gas--he never has--guys just weren't able to figure out his fastball.
As a non-roster invitee, Wandy does have a tough climb to make the team. But if he strings a few more starts like the one he had on Friday, he will start really making Hinch think of ways at keeping him around.
