MLB Opening Day 2016: Astros Tyler White to be added to major league roster

Following the news that Jon Singelton has been sent to the minors, Tyler White was informed he had made the major league roster.

The first base position has been one of the few remaining questions for the Astros 2016 Opening Day roster. The Astros announced the decision to send the presumed holder of the position, Jon Singelton, to minor league camp. Following that news, the Astros manager A.J. Hinch announced Tyler White had made the major league club.

It must have been an emotional moment for the 33rd round pick out of Western Carolina in the 2013 MLB draft.

White has batted .366 (15x41) with two home runs and 10 RBIs this spring. He batted .325 (131x403) with 14 home runs, 99 RBIs in between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Fresno.
