The first base position has been one of the few remaining questions for the Astros 2016 Opening Day roster. The Astros announced the decision to send the presumed holder of the position, Jon Singelton, to minor league camp. Following that news, the Astros manager A.J. Hinch announced Tyler White had made the major league club.
Hinch told White he made team in front of the team. Said it was emotional. Wasn't a behind doors talk.

It must have been an emotional moment for the 33rd round pick out of Western Carolina in the 2013 MLB draft.
White has batted .366 (15x41) with two home runs and 10 RBIs this spring. He batted .325 (131x403) with 14 home runs, 99 RBIs in between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Fresno.
