Keith Law releases Astros top 10 prospects list

Law ranked the top farm systems, prospects and now breaks down each team.

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Baseball pundits rank prospects, teams, and playoff chances before even one game of baseball is even played -- it is what they do. One of the top pundits in the field is ESPN's Keith Law. Law has broken down his top farm systems in baseball, his top 100 prospects, and now he ranks the top 10 prospects for each team, including the Astros. Law's article are insider only, requiring a subscription.

Law's list for the Astros reads as follows:

1. Alex Bregman, SS (19 on Law's Top 100 Prospect list)
2. Francis Martes, RHP (40)
3. A.J. Reed, 1B (44)
4. Kyle Tucker, OF (67)
5. Daz Cameron, CF (just missed)
6. Joe Musgrove, RHP
7. Derek Fisher, OF
8. Colin Moran, 3B
9. Michael Feliz, RHP
10. Tyler White, 1B

There aren't many surprises outside of the position on Francis Martes and Derek Fisher. Law said of Fisher:

Derek Fisher's tools are better than his performance suggests, as he has raw power, 70 speed and still plays like someone who's only recently picked up the game.

The ESPN Senior Writer said of the Astros system overall:

Despite the promotions and the trades -- including the big prospect dump for Ken Giles -- it's still a strong, deep system with multiple potential stars and probably the next Ken Giles kicking around in here too.
