Laureano's start to the AFL couldn't have gone much better. He's hitting a cool .571 after the first week of play. Half of his eight hits have been for extra bases, he's swiped three more bases, walked a couple of times, and hasn't struck out yet. He's tied for first in the league in average, and is second in OPS. No one else has at least three extra-base hits and three stolen bases.
Stubbs, meanwhile, is off to a much slower start. He's 2-for-11, with one of the hits being a long ball. One walk and one strike out in three games. He's played catcher twice, though, so it looks like they're certainly committed to giving him his reps behind the dish.
Armenteros and Martes gave up almost a third of the runs the entire team allowed during the week, so yeah, room for improvement there.
This first recap is a bit short, on account of the AFL starting on Tuesday this past week instead of Monday, and because most of the other Winter Leagues not having started up yet. Expect a longer report next Monday.
