The Houston Astros finished off their Winter Caravan with the Astros FanFest at Minute Maid Park on Saturday. Nearly 30 current and former players were attendance to greet 11,000 fans.
The Astros had a plethora of activities for Astros fans: kids ran the bases in the winter sunlight, autograph sessions, fan forums, social media zone with MLB baseball and ping pong, kids games, batting practice and bullpen sessions.
The team also had their annual garage sale that once again was a treasure trove of Astros nicknacks, Astros authentics sold old Astros gear and the team stores had great sales on Astros playoff garb.
Astros players, broadcasters and legends who appeared at FanFest today included Jose Altuve, Brandon Backe, Bill Brown, Enos Cabell, Jason Castro, Matt Duffy, Scott Feldman, Josh Fields, Mike Fiers, Robert Ford, Evan Gattis, Ken Giles, Marwin Gonzalez, Will Harris, Jake Marisnick, Lance McCullers, Collin McHugh, Terry Puhl, Colby Rasmus, Jon Singleton, J.R. Richard, Chris Sampson, Steve Sparks, George Springer, Max Stassi, Preston Tucker, Luis Valbuena, Carl Warwick and Jimmy Wynn. Carlos Correa, Dallas Keuchel and Astros Manager A.J. Hinch were not able to attend today's FanFest as they were all in New York today for the scheduled Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) Awards Dinner.
One of the biggest things of the event was the Astros announcing a new alternate uniform -- a blue jersey with rainbow side panels.
