The Houston Astros have added another left-handed arm on a minor league contract, the same week they bring back Wandy Rodriguez. Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports the Astros have signed Dominican pitcher Edwar Cabrera.

Cabrera signed with the Colorado Rockies as an amateur free agent in 2008. He appeared in two games with the Rockies in 2012, posting a 0-2 record with a 11.12 ERA in 5 2/3 innings.
He was claimed off Waivers by the Texas Rangers in 2013. Last season, Cabrera pitched for both Double A Frisco and Triple A Round Rock -- posting a 5-2 record with a 3.91 ERA in 78 1/3 innings with 61 strikeouts, 17 walks, .269 batting average against, 0.89 ground ball-to-flyball rate, and a 1.25 WHIP.
The Astros appears to be building up options for lefties with Scott Kazmir no longer an option.
