Texas League Pos-Season All-Stars Announced

Rodney Linares will be managing several of his own players as four Hooks were selected. Colin Moran is the utility infielder and Jon Kemmer will be roaming the outfield. Right-handers Jandel Gustave and Chris Devenski will also join them. Our old friend David Martinez also made the team.

Hauschild Struggles in 5-1 Loss

James Hoyt needs to a chance in Houston. He has earned a September call-up if there's a way to find a spot for him on the 40-man roster. He has a 2.00 ERA over his last ten games and an even more impressive 11/1 strikeout to walk ratio in those nine innings. The fifty-six strikeouts to just eleven walks in forty-three innings is just sick.

Errors Pile Up in Hooks 10-1 Loss

Chan Moon and Colin Moran both had throwing errors. Moon also had a fielding error, but so did Leo Heras. Those four helped to add four unearned runs onto Kyle Westwood's line. Just a bad day pitching for him and Reymin Guduan and Westwood.

Paulino Shoves in JetHawks 7-2 Win

David Paulino has taken a back seat to Francis Martes as the big rising star in the system, but has done quite a bit to raise his stock this season. He's had some terrible outings that has allowed for a terrible idea. But, this game was just dominant.  A 78 game score in the winds of Lancaster is something to hang your hat on.

Eshelman Makes More Characteristic Start in QC's 8-6 Win

Thomas Eshelman allowed three walks in his QC debut which is odd considering he's the NCAA leader in thrown strikes, but a pro strike zone is a tighter window. This time he didn't allow a free pass and did pick up a few strikeouts. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pick because he doesn't have the best arm action and looks like he pushes the ball quite a bit. But, with the right training, that arm action could potentially get cleaned up. My recommendation would be some weighted balls and a few other drills working on rolling his elbow in. I personally think that could help his velocity some and make him a steal. But, that arm action has to be cleaned up for me to buy into that.

TC's Late Push Not Enough in 6-5 Loss

Two runs in the top of the ninth pushed to a tie but Zac Grotz could hold onto the lead.

Alex Winkleman continues to be a very intriguing late round pick. The 21st round pick still has a strikeout rate over nine and has just six walks in 33 2/3 innings for TC.
