Last month, Craig Biggio was inducted into the baseball hall of fame and Astros fans flooded Cooperstown in support. Saturday, Astros fans only had to go as far as Minute Maid Park to celebrate their vaunted hero. The Astros honored Biggio with his hall of fame plaque in attendance.
Biggio moved by the fans' obviation, said "Thank you. I love you guys. I really do."
Biggio was honored everywhere. The field was painted with blue and orange "7"s in honor of Biggio, and they also had one on Tal's Hill. In attendance were faces of Biggio's past -- former Astros manager Art Howe and former team General Manager Gerry Hunsicker.
The team even added a Sunshine Kids logo to Biggio's retired number in the stadium. The Sunshine Kids is a charity dedicated to helping kids with cancer. Biggio has supported the group throughout his career, and also wore a the group's logo during warmups for the majority of his career.
