Solid win by the Grizz in their first game without L.J. Hoes. Brady Rodgers wasn't perfect, but he did #whiff a season-high 8 while walking none over seven innings. This is the third straight game (and fourth of five) in which he has not issued a walk. In his last 7 games, his ERA has been a much more manageable 3.10, and he has 5 walks versus 29 strikeouts.
Small sample size alert, but Tyler White is slashing .429/.478/.619 in his first ten games for Fresno and has only struck out 3 times. He's hit safely in all games but one and has reached base at least twice every time in those 9 games. He's already gotten almost the same number of doubles (5) as he had at CC (6).For someone who I thought a non-prospect earlier this year (lack of pedigree, age), he's done nothing but impress.

In their last game without A.J. Reed, the Hooks carried on their winning (56-30!) ways. Michael Feliz was effective, the Hooks bopped a couple homers, and that was that. Jandel Gustave continued his odd little streak: 10 straight games of either walks or strikeouts, not both. In fact, he's only issued both in the same game twice this season. Allowing walks is, of course, not that great, and with his 102 mile-per-hour fastball (son), he's allowed 15 walks to go with 20 strikeouts, something which must improve.
Another player who seemed to be a non-prospect earlier in the year (same reasons), Jon Kemmer, has impressed me this season. He has hit 10 homers on the year and owns a .318/.395/.531 slash line. Unlike Tyler White, however, he has struck out (57 times) nearly three times the amount he's walked (20 times). He doesn't appear blocked right now, however, due to the L.J. Hoes promotion, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him there within the next few days.

Even in a loss, the Hoss is still grinding along. Chase McDonald might only have gotten a solo shot, but it supposedly went 440 feet, which is nuts and makes me want to recheck that. Yup, that's what Jason Schwartz said. Plus, he's reached base in 18 consecutive games and has a .362 average in those games. That's scary for a power hitter.
Troy Scribner seems to have lost his control but not his command. In 2013, he struck out 78 while walking 14 in 53 innings. In 2014, he struck out 102 while walking 27 in 81.2 innings. This year, he's struck out 76 in 67.1 innings (I'm not touching that 6.15 ERA with a 10-foot pole)...but he's walked 40 batters, which is almost as many as he had walked in his whole career up to this year. If anyone knows the problem, please tell me, because I'd love to know.
