Houston acquired Straily this offseason from the Cubs as part of the Dexter Fowler trade, that also brought Luis Valbuena to the Astros. Valbuena has been the Astros everyday starter at third base, while Straily was sent to Triple A Fresno out of Spring Training.
Straily has a record of 6-6 with a 4.06 ERA in 14 starts at Fresno this season. In his last three starts, Straily has allowed only four runs over 19 innings with 17 strikeouts and three walks.
It was a bit of surprised to see Straily sent down at the beginning of the season, many penciled him in as the Astros fifth starter to begin the season. Straily was 13-12 with a 4.54 ERA during his major league career.
Straily replaced Brett Oberholtzer, who was sent down after giving up six runs in 1.1 innings and getting a ejected for throwing at Alex Rodriguez.
