Welcome to Day 2, how the heck can we top day one! Hopefully pulling the talent that we have come to expect from Luhnow in rounds 3-11. Here is a quick list of who is left that has caught my eye and who MLB.com has as top available.
BPA players left:
Matuella, Michael - RHP, Duke, JR
This Duke pitcher was looking like the cream of the crop coming into this draft but some injuries and spinal condition has lead to a big fall, but fortunately for us he is right there for us in the 3rd if we have the money for him...
Hooper, Justin - LHP, De La Salle HS, CA
A big lefty with big upside but also low floor, he is a big gamble but also has some really great ability.
Ferrell, Riley - RHP, TCU
Power righty reliever for Texas Christian with a big FB and slider, changeup lags well behind at this point.
Baker, Luken - RHP, Oak Ridge HS, TX
Big HS power pitcher from TX, he is good value here but not sure we can afford him, after us getting Daz.
Orimoloye, Demi - OF R/R, St Matthew HS, Ontario, Canada
A superb athlete hailing from the frozen north, Orimoloye is a raw prospect that you can dream on, he might be too big a gamble.
McCarthy, Joe - OF L/L, Virginia, JR
Joe could very well be a possibility here, his value was hurt by an injury early this year so might be a easy sign. He is a good hitter who profiles to have good power going forward, his arm is decent but is best suited for LF. Does he remind you of anyone we have in our system from the same college? Our OF is starting to get a bit crowded though...
Cabbage, Trey - SS/3B L/R, Grainger HS, TN
I really like this kid and would love for Trey to be there for us, kid has a sweet swing, can hit, athletic and play great defense.
There are a lot of good possibilities for us in the 3rd and beyond. Let me know who you like for us going forward.
