Villar seems like the logical choice to move to the minors after calling up uber-prospect Carlos Correa to start at shortstop. Villar continues to have the small mental miscues that have plagued him throughout his career. He is currently batting .263 with seven extra-base hits, 12 runs scored, eight walks, and seven RBIs.
One of Villar's most recent miscues may have lead to the Astro continuing losing streak. Sunday, in Toronto, Villar called off Jose Altuve on a pop up just to the left of second. Villar ran into Jose Reyes allowing the ball to drop in. Correa was called up the following day.
Velasquez will make his major league debut tonight against the White Sox.
