Let's make it 8: Astros continue the win streak by beating the Mariners 4-3

You may have heard this one before; but the Astros use power and solid pitching to lead them to another victory.

Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Looking for another successful month, the Astros started May with a 1-0 record.  They won their 8th game in a row, as they edged the Mariners 4-3.  Their offense can be pretty much summed up in 3 swings:

- El Oso Blanco hit his 3rd HR of the season, a 2-run shot in the 3rd inning.

- Jake from Rake Farm (I love this nickname by the way!) hit his 3rd HR of the season, a solo shot in the 2nd inning.  Please note that Jake Marisnick also added a walk, and had the audacity to have another great game at the plate on the same day as Mr. Coleman published an article saying he was due for a regression.  I mean he is due for regression, but I guess he wants us to wait a little longer!

- George Springer hit his 4th Springer Dinger in the 8th, a solo shot in the 8th inning.

(side note - we may very well have the coolest nicknames in the entire league, although I may be biased)

That sums up how all 4 runs were accounted for, but I'd also like to mention that Jose Altuve did Jose Altuve things yet again, and had 2 more hits tonight.  That makes it a ridiculous 9 straight multi-hit games for Altuve, which ties a franchise record.  Wow!

Regarding the pitching, Samuel Deduno started, and provided 4 solid innings of 1 run ball.  Then he handed it off to one of the best bullpens in the league.  Fields, got all 4 of his outs via strikeout, which is quite encouraging,  Then Chapman, Neshek, and Qualls pitched a total of 2.2 hitless innings.  Lastly, Gregerson came in for the save with the Astros up 4-1.  He allowed things to get interesting as he allowed a solo HR to Nelson Cruz and then later in the inning, a HR to Logan Morrison.  He was able to get renowned Astros' killer Rickie Weeks for the final out (I couldn't have been the only one that was a little nervous here!).

Another day, another exciting win for our Houston Astros.  This is fun!

And yes, the Astros are still in first place.
