Astros Prospect Report: Games of May 19, 2015

Your daily look at the prospective Astros happenings.

Fresno Grizzlies at the El Paso Chihuahas (SD)

Alex White is struggling. He was touched up in yet another start. His rates are not good either: 3.98 K/9 and a 3.41 BB/9. His FIP is actually higher than his ERA at 5.68. White wasn't the only Grizzly to get hit around. Jonas Dufek and Jordan Jankowski also allowed multiple runs.

Carlos Correa had 2 hits, an RBI, and a sacrifice fly. In a small 7 game sample, Carlos' slash line is .313/.361/.438 with 5 Ks and 3 BBs. LJ Hoes, Domingo Santana, and Matt Duffy all contributed with a multi-hit game. Jon Singleton continued to be productive, walking and slugging a triple to right field. However, he did have 2 errors in the field.

Grizzlies los 9-15. Their record falls to 21-17.

San Antonio Missions (SD) at the Corpus Christi Hooks

Brian Holmes has decided to go ahead and break out at Lancaster this year. He struck out 45 in 30.1 IP. In those innings his ERA was a good 2.37, but his FIP and SIERA were a silly 1.65 and 1.64 (indicating his ERA was not even as good as it could have been). He was rewarded with a promotion to Corpus and did not disappoint in his first start. Holmes went 5 innings striking out 5 and only allowing 1 earned run. My favorite Dallas Keuchel starter kit, Mike Hauschild completed the second half of the tandem, going 4 innings and only allowing 2 hits while striking out 2. Hauschild, as usual, got 8 of his outs on the gound while only 2 came through the air. His ground ball rate is ground ball % is at 63.1. Wow.

Jon Kemmer and Tyler White both had multi-hit games. Tyler White's sample size is still small, but this guy is making a mockery of the Texas League when it comes to plate discilpline and contact. He's walked 23 times to only 12 strikeouts.

Hooks win 3-1 and move their record to 25-12.

Lancaster JetHawks at the Inland Empire 66ers (LAA)

The JetHawks came out on top of the rare pitcher's duel in the Cal League. Edison Frias was stellar striking out 5 through 5. Houser managed to overcome 4 walks in only 2 innings. Brunneman did his thing as usual.

James Ramsay scored both runs for Lancaster and had a nice 2 hit game.

Lancaster wins 2-1 and improves their record to 19-19.

Quad Cities RiverBandits at the Clinton Lumber Kings (SEA)

The pitching staff decided to try and end the Rivre Bandits run to glory, but the bats didn't allow that to happen. Sean McMullen had 4 hits and 6 RBIs. He outshined Jason Martin who had 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Jacob "The Sheriff" Nottingham raised his average to .320 with his 3 hits. His OPS is up to .979.

RiverBandits win 14-10 (insert football score joke) and improve their record to 30-8.

30-8. 30 and freaking 8.
