Ken Rosenthal broke the news earlier today that outfielder Alex Presley had cleared waivers. The Astros announced another Alex will be joining him in Fresno. Right-handed pitcher Alex White, the other player designated for assignment to make room for pitchers Roberto Hernandez and Joe Thatcher.

Presley has three days to accept the assignment or elect free agency, while White has been placed on Fresno's roster.

White came to Houston from the Rockies as part the trade that sent Wilton Lopez to Colorado. White had Tommy John surgery before the 2013 season, returning to post a 3-6 record with 6.50 ERA, 31 walks, 53 strikeouts, and 1.71 WHIP in 25 games with Triple A Oklahoma City.
The right-hander struggled this spring, allowing 7 runs over 4 innings on 8 hits and 6 walks.
