Gallery: Astros celebrate 50th anniversary of the Astrodome

The Astros celebrate the Astrodome with original Astros, astronauts, and throwback uniforms.

Saturday, Minute Maid Park took a step back into the past. The Astros players had a shooting star across their chests and the Angels had a silver halo around their cap. The park patrol looked like they had taken page out of Mad Men, and the grounds crew were ready for launch in orange jumpsuits. The pioneers of the Astros returned to put on the Astros uniform one more time. Larry Dierker, Bob Aspromonte, Bob Bruce, Ron Brand, Dan Coombs and Jimmy Wynn presented the original 1965 Astros. As they did 50 years ago, the Astros caught the first pitch of the game from NASA astronauts.

The affection for the "Eighth Wonder of the World" is alive and well in Houston, Texas.
