Over the last week, the final spots on the Houston roster came into focus. Monday night, news broke that two non-roster invitees, Roberto Hernandez and Joe Thatcher, would both make the Astros 25-man roster.
The only question, then, was who else would join them on the Astros 2015 Opening Day roster?
With Hernandez locked into a rotation spot, the final battles for the roster came down to Brett Oberholtzer and Josh Fields being healthy and that 13th position player. The competition for that final spot came down to Alex Presley, Robbie Grossman and Jonathan Villar.
Oberholtzer and Fields ending on the DL opened up spots for both Will Harris and Asher Wojciechowski while Jon Singleton's surprise demotion opened up a spot for both Grossman and Villar.
