Two Astros were sent on their way Wednesday night at the non-tender deadline: first baseman Chris Carter as a free agent and back-up catcher Hank Conger in a trade with the Rays for cash.

This wasn't a huge surprise: the Houston Astros non-tendered Chris Carter before last night's midnight deadline, making him a free agent.   Carter is a one-dimensional first baseman who, to be honest, should probably be a DH. In 2015 he hit .a paltry .199 with a .307 OBP.
