Arizona Fall League

November 16 - Rained Out

No kidding. Third game this season that has been nixed thanks to too much wet weather in Arizona.

November 17 - Glendale wins 4-1 over Surprise

-> Derek Fisher: 3-for-5, R, 2 RBI
-> J.D. Davis: 1-for-5

November 18 - Glendale loses 8-6 to Surprise

-> J.D. Davis: 1-for-4, 2 RBI
-> Chan Moon: 0-for-3, BB

RP Albert Minnis: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K

November 19 - Glendale wins 5-1 over Mesa

-> Derek Fisher: 1-for-3, BB, 2B, R
-> Chan Moon: 0-for-4

SP Brian Holmes: 3.0 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 4 K

And there you go. Glendale finishes the AFL season 13-15. Scottsdale won the championship game on Saturday, in case anyone cares. Time for some final lines!

J.D. Davis: 17 G, .279/.329/.456, 8 R, 19 H, 6 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 5 BB, 20 K
Derek Fisher: 17 G, .254/.397/.424, 7 R, 15 H, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 14 BB, 23 K, 3-for-5 SB
Chan Moon: 13 G, .093/.241/.116, 3 R, 4 H, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 9 BB, 7 K, 1-for-1 SB
A.J. Reed: 11 G, .231/.326/.385, 6 R, 9 H, 3 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 6 BB, 8 K, 1-for-1 SB

Chris Cotton: 8 G, 7.2 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 10 K - 1.17 ERA, 0.0 BB/9, 11.4 K/9
Brian Holmes: 6 G, 16.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 13 BB, 14 K - 1.13 ERA, 7.3 BB/9, 7.9 K/9
Albert Minnis: 9 G, 11.2 IP, 12 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K - 2.31 ERA, 1.5 BB/9, 4.6 K/9
Keegan Yuhl: 8 G, 8.0 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 4 BB, 3 K - 7.88 ERA, 4.5 BB/9, 3.4 K/9

Not a bad showing for a few guys. Davis and Fisher started to warm up after Reed left. Davis hit .310 during the last ten games of his time, and Fisher posted a .950 OPS in his last ten games.

Holmes got results, despite hit command just abandoning him. None of his six outings were more than three innings, and he walked at least one batter in each of them, so while the four walks in two innings during his game last week hurt, it was a pretty consistent issue. Chris Cotton made a pretty nice statement; it's a small sample, but for a team that is reportedly looking high and low for bullpen help this off-season, Cotton did everything he could to grab the front office's attention.

South of the Border

You'll notice some names have been removed from the list this week. So long to Robbie Grossman and Luis Cruz, among others.

White had a "down week," which means that he managed just a double and two homers while his overall line dropped. Because he apparently doesn't do actual down weeks where you just completely stink for a while. Hoyt also coughed up a couple of runs and blew a save this week, though his overall numbers are still pretty darn shiny. I also haven't mentioned Buchanan yet, but he's doing quite nicely for himself (though with a 6.3 H/9 from a soft-tosser like him, I'm betting there's at least some degree of BAbip shenanigans going on). He'll doubtless be in spring camp and could be a nice long man out of the pen.
