AAA- Oklahoma City 5, Omaha (KC) 2
Mike Foltynewicz put together another nice start while the OKC offense, one that suddenly consists of on less prospect now that Jon Singleton is up, cobbled together few runs in the winning effort. Carlos Perez recorded three hits including a double and a triple (from a catcher!). Folty, again, showed that maybe he's not very far from big league ready. He's begun to strike more hitters out and generate ground balls, though his walk rate still is not great.
Austin Wates- 0-4, 2 K
Marc Krauss- 2-3, 2 BB
L.J. Hoes- 1-5, 2 RBI
Carlos Perez- 3-5, 2B, 3B
Mike Foltynewicz- 6.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, 7:3 GO:FO
AA- Corpus Christi 3, San Antonio (SD) 2 (13 innings)
The Hooks got a solid performance from their bullpen and three hits from Andrew Aplin to outlast San Antonio in extra innings. Aplin's three hits raised his average to .275 on the season, while Nolan Fontana drew three walks in his first three plate appearances. Fontana might not hit enough to hold down a starting job at the major league level, but his incredible patience that he's showing now after a rough start in AA will allow him to be a productive player in some capacity at the next level. Not to be outdone was Kyle Smith, who turned in 5 innings of work on top of his great peripherals; last night's start puts him at 38 strikeouts against 7 walks in his seven outings at Corpus this season.
Nolan Fontana: 1-3, 3 BB, 2 BB
Andrew Aplin- 3-6, 2 RBI
Preston Tucker: 1-5
Kyle Smith- 5.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Travis Ballew- 2 IP, 2 BB, 2 K
Andrew Robinson- 2 IP, 3 H, 2 K
A+: Lancaster 7, Visalia (AZ) 2
The Jethawks offense collected 11 hits and Kyle Westwood delivered another of his impressive starts in a winning effort. Westwood did what he's done all year; limit walks, collect groundballs and eat innings. Kemp, Correa and Jordan Scott had multi-hit games, and Kemp stole his 23rd and 24th bases of the season. One notable addition to the Lancaster lineup is second baseman Jack Mayfield, who was recently promoted from Quad-Cities.
