Preview

The Astros have a major opporiunty to make a push in the standing with series against the Twins, Diamondbacks, and Rays coming up. Who would have ever guess that we would be talking about that after the month of April the Astros had? The Astros have won 10 of their last 13 games. As 'Not Jim Crane' points out -

As much as I'm a fan of the Castro bobblehead, I would have to give the credit to a team coming together after the call ups of George Springer and Jon Singleton.

Scott Feldman takes the mound today in hopes of starting a new winning streak. Feldman is coming off his worse outing of the season by far. He gave up nine runs on 11 hits against his former team the Orioles on June 1. That said the O's have touched up Feldman in both of his starts this season - four of the five home runs Feldman has given have from Orioles players. On the road he has been sharp, posting a 2.74 ERA in 23 innings. Though Feldman has made two careers starts in Minnesota both came at the Metrodome, he is yet to pitch at Target Field.

The Twins have lost three straight games with Kyle Gibson on the mound coming into today. He has given up nine earned runs over his last 17 innings pitched. But, sprinkled into these outs was six innings without a run allowed to Rangers on May 28. Both starting pitchers are 6'6'' and over today. Gibson has that classic downward driving fastball of a towering pitcher, but lacks control. He will mix in a slider and change for his offspeed pitches.

Joe Mauer is batting .333 (6-18) against Feldman in his career with a home run. Kurt Suzuki has 22 at-bats against Feldman with six hits - two of which were doubles.

Gibson was a mid-season call up for the Twins after missing 2012 with a Tommy John surgury. He pitched August 3,2013 against the Astros - giving four runs on nine hits. He was taken out after three innings and had only thrown 81 pitches. Robbie Grossman was 2-for-2 the game. Jose Altuve and Matt Dominguez each collect a double against Gibson.
