Let's start with this - someone thinks the Astros may have held George Springer back for the right reasons, meaning ones that weren't concocted by money and Dick Dastardly.
Aaron Gleeman over at NBC's Hardball Talk wrote a quick blurb yesterday noting that the newest face of the Houston Astros has struggled since his introduction to the majors. The fact that he wasn't Superman on day one has quieted the talk of his not breaking camp with the big league team simply because of money. Although Springer hasn't put up numbers that are out-of-this-world yet, hitting just .185 no one doubts that in time he will adjust to big league life and take his rightful place as a fan favorite Astro.
Meanwhile, Brad Ausmus, former Astros catcher extraordinaire and current skipper of the Detroit Tigers faced his old team for the first time last night. He wasn't the only one. Julio Daniel, or as most call him, J.D. Martinez also found himself on the other side of the field from his old team, also in a Detroit Tigers uniform. Evan Drellich of the Chronicle has a great piece looking at what that was like for both men as they went into last night's game against the Astros.
