Hitter of the Week
The power has arrived in Quad Cities! We saw this last year, the power takes awhile to show up for this team. The early part of the season is cold up there (why do people live in the northern part of the country, it's too cold). That affects the hitters. Ronnie Mitchell is breaking out right now.
Mitchell won this award, not for the week, but because of his last three days. For the week he's 10-23 with a double and three home runs. He also struck out six times and stole two bases. But, the last three days have 7-11 with a double and three home runs. He also picked up those two stolen bases in those three days.
Over the last ten days, his OPS is 1.210. Not bad at all. He's raised his season OPS to .850. Not bad for a 38th round pick.
Pitcher of the Week
I almost gave this Rudy Owens for his strong outing after returning from Houston for a spot start.
But, it's Michael Feliz since he had two dominant outings.
GM 1: 4 1/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 SO
GM 2: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 SO
Overall: 9 1/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 13 SO
Yeah, pretty dominant when you only allow five base runners across two starts. Even nastier to strikeout 13!
Then there's this tweet.
Feliz avg 95 high 98 yesterday... then Gustave took over, avg 97 high 99... #heat
