Astros 9, Royals 2: Royals Crown King George

Well wasn't that fun? The Astros dismantled the Royals 9-2 in game on in Kansas City Monday night.

Scott Feldman pitched six strong innings for the Astros in a return to form. Feldman had struggled since his return from the disabled list, but he scattered eight hits, allowing two earned runs, and one walk. The Astros bullpen pitched three scoreless innings. As a matter of fact, Tony Sipp and Josh Fields collected a strikeout and failed to allow a hit or walk in their innings of work each. Jerome Williams closed out the game with a scoreless ninth as he stranded Lorenzo Cain and Pedro Ciriaco, who each singled in the inning. The final out came as a result of Jimmy Paredes, which had it's own strange satisfaction.

The top four of the Astros lineup was 9-for-16 in the game. Dexter Fowler was 2-for-2 with a three walks, and had a nice two-out single to drive in a run. Jason Castro went to 2-for-5 in the game with two RBIs, both runs scored on fielder's choice plays. Jose Altuve went 1-for-5 with a walk and two runs scored. The bottom of the Astros lineup had some pop as well, Alex Presley and Marwin Gonzalez went a collective 7-for-10 with a double and run scored each.

The Astros smashed their season-high for hits with 16. They had reached previous high 11 hits twelfth times already this season. Houston ran Yordano Ventura in the third inning after giving up five earned runs on seven hits. Ventura was taken out after showing some elbow discomfort.

I feel like there is something from this recap....hmmmm what could it be? Oh, yeah! George Springer. The glory that is George Springer. Springer became the first player in Astros history to score five runs, four hits, two doubles, a walk, and home run in same game. Springer also has five home runs in four games. He was just a few feet away from hitting another home run, as his first inning double hit high off the center field wall. Since he returned from his hip flexor injury, Springer is 10 for 23 with five home runs, 12 RBIs, and 11 runs scored.

If the baseball world didn't know who George Springer is, they know now. Now it's party time.
