On Tuesday, Jeff Luhnow updated media on a few different Astros injury situations. All are for pitchers and only a few can be considered good news.
- First up, reliever Jose Cisnero has torn UCL in his right elbow and will require Tommy John surgery. Cisnero threw 4 2/3 innings in Houston this season before heading to the disabled list. He debuted with 43 innings for Houston amid a couple call-ups in 2013. Team physician Dr. Thomas Mehlhoff will perform the surgery in Houston.
- Matt Albers had a setback in his recovery and will need a cortisone shot in his right shoulder. He cannot pitch for 10 days and will resume throwing then. An MRI showed no structural damage to Albers' shoulder.
- Asher Wojciechowski should be back soon, as Luhnow said he will join one of Houston's minor league teams to work his way back. Wojciechowski had been on the disabled list since the spring with a back issue.
- This wasn't an update from tonight, butJJO reported Tuesday that Jesse Crain is continuing his rehab at Minute Maid Park. Crain could start throwing bullpen sessions in the next week if all goes well.
