I'm not going to lie and say I'm not a fan first when it comes to blogging about the Astros. I have lived and died by them for almost the entirety of my life. I didn't understand and appreciate the game until the team moved to Minute Maid Park. As result I attached myself more to the next generation of Astros after Biggio and Bagwell, my favorite player growing up was Roy Oswalt. The socks, the high leg kick, the fast pace, big curve, and the attitude all played a factor.
At the same time, there isn't a person on this earth that doesn't love Lance Berkman (except maybe fans of teams in the NL Central). He has that fun-loving attitude that is infectious. Today, they retire as Astros. I hope this is only the first step in honoring them, and soon their jerseys will hang from to the rafters too. Maybe even Cooperstown, you never know.
