Weekly College Prospect Update: 4/25 - 4/27

A few injury concerns among the draft's top college pitchers: TCU lefty Brandon Finnegan was removed from the third inning of his start on Friday night with shoulder soreness. Meanwhile, East Carolina righty Jeff Hoffman - a fast riser in the Cape and considered a top-five talent by many - was shut down for 8-10 days by his coach. His next start will likely be May 9 against Southern Miss.

Meanwhile, NC State lefty Carlos Rodon struck out a season-high fifteen of the thirty-four Georgia Tech hitters he faced on Friday night and, yes, there's video. Just as he begins to heat up, LSU right-hander Aaron Nola seems to be cooling off. Nola couldn't make it out of the sixth inning against Tennessee, surrendering five runs (all earned) on eight hits and as many walks - four - as strikeouts.

Credit to Virginia closer Nick Howard, who recorded two saves against Florida State over the weekend, allowing zero hits, zero runs, and zero walks over 2.1 innings. All seven outs he recorded were strikeouts.
