Weekly College Prospect Update: 4/18-20

Did you hear the one about the ACC starter who was a member of the U.S. Collegiate Baseball National Team, had a 3.9 strikeout-to-walk ratio on the season, and threw a complete game three-hitter against Wake Forest? No? Well, his name is Luke Weaver, and he pitches for Florida State. He doesn't have elite velocity (91-94 with good movement), but he mixes it with a plus-potential slider and an above-average changeup. He's young for this draft class, and he's putting up really fine numbers this season.

Jeff Hoffman, a potential top-five pick, had a lot of very important people in the crowd as he took on Middle Tennessee State. How'd he do? Well, it's been called the best game of his career: Sixteen strikeouts, three hits, one walk, and no runs over eight innings for a 1-0 East Carolina victory. The fastball touched 97 in the middle innings as he raised his season K/9 to 9.6.
