Astros trade Eric Berger to Athletics for player to be named later

Astros send Berger west to the Athletics for a player to be named later.

Eric Berger dropped a bit of bombshell on twitter between the Astros' split-squad games.

The beat writers shortly confirmed this fact.

My first thought was the A's continue to collect players with interesting facial hair and hair in general.

Berger was in fact originally drafted 2007 by the A's, but decided to stay one more year at Arizona. In 2008, he was drafted by the Indians in the eighth round. He spent his final three seasons with the Indians bouncing between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. On April 15, 2013, the Astros traded catcher Chris Wallace for Berger.

Berger spent his entire time with the Astros organization in Triple-A Oklahoma City. He spent much his time as a reliever, making three starts in 44 total appearances. Berger posted a 3.06 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 32 walks, and 55 strikeouts.
