Round 2 of the TCB Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training 64 players will spend the next several weeks facing off in a head to head public vote to determine who advances to the next round and who will eventually be crowned the communities favorite Astros player. For more details check out the tournament introductory post.
The rules are simple, determine which player you want to advance to the next round and then vote. Vote subjectively, objectively, using your trusty magic eight ball or any other set of criteria. It's totally up to you how you want to vote! Votes for this round will last exactly 24 hours.
In this match-up
3 - Jon Singleton
Once the near-undisputed prospect king of the Astros system, a drug bust led to a shortened and poor year on the field as Singleton's body fell out of shape during the layoff, and his stock has taken a hit. After tearing it up in the Puerto Rican winter league, the first-baseman-of-the-future is looking to prove that he is still just that, and a hot start in AAA could be all that it takes to propel him up to The Show. His upside remains the same; the best bat this team has had since Lance Berkman was dealt. -Ashitaka
vs
11 - Danry Vasquez
Tons of upside remain for Vasquez, another in the line of uncommonly-promising PTBNL pickups the franchise has nabbed in recent years. A 20-year-old with good contact skills an likely a good bit of power left to appear, Vasquez could eventually eclipse fellow PTBNL standout Domingo Santana in prospect status thanks to not having the same kind of strikeout issues. He has plenty of work left to do and will likely open the season in Quad Cities where he ended 2013, but a breakout is possible and could see him shoot up the rankings. -Ashitaka
