TCB Astros March Madness 2014: Jarred Cosart vs Jose Cisnero

Right-handed starter Jarred Cosart vs right-handed pitcher Jose Cisnero.

TCB's Astros Fan Favorite March Madness Tournament is underway. From now until the end of Spring Training 64 players will spend the next several weeks facing off in a head to head public vote to determine who advances to the next round and who will eventually be crowned the communities favorite Astros player. For more details check out the tournament introductory post.

The rules are simple, determine which player you want to advance to the next round and then vote. Vote subjectively, objectively, using your trusty magic eight ball or any other set of criteria. It's totally up to you how you want to vote! Votes for this round will last exactly 24 hours.

In this match-up

7 - Jarred Cosart

The 23 year old top pitching prospect from the Clear Lake area had a terrific near-no hitter debut against the Rays, and proceeded to post great results, a 1.95 ERA, in 60 innings. But his peripherals didn't match up with his results, making the ERA look a bit like a mirage. The big question is whether he can produce the kind of control and strike outs which will enable him to sustain a good ERA. That said, Cosart's stuff is impressive, with a good cutter and fastball velocity that made him one of the hardest throwing starting pitchers in the majors. -Clack

10 - Jose Cisnero

One of the under-the-radar sleeper prospects of the last couple of years, Cisnero spent a good amount of time with the Major League team working out of the bullpen. While he wasn't spectacular, he was mostly solid (4.12 ERA, 4.53 BB/9, 8.45 K/9) and, considering the other relievers, was one of the better arms they had late in games. His stuff is above-average, he continued to miss bats and his command didn't completely blow up against Major League competitions, so he has a fighting chance to earn another job in the pen this Spring. -Ashitaka
