In three major league seasons with the Rockies and Diamondbacks , Harris posted a 4.26 ERA, 3.16 FIP, 1.349 WHIP, and a 3.57 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 110 appearances. In 2014, he bounced between the Diamondbacks and Triple-A Reno. With the Aces, Harris had 0.99 ERA in 45.2 innings pitched. In the majors, Harris had had a 4.34 ERA and 3.20 FIP in 29 appearances.
Looking deeper at Harris, he had a spike in groundball percentage in 2013 (47.3%) - ten points higher than his 2014 percentage (34.7%). His career FIP (3.16) and xFIP (3.29) looks better than his career 4.26 ERA. Is Harris the Astros newest diamond in the rough? Only time will tell.
For Harris, joining the Astros is a homecoming of sorts. The former LSU Tiger was born in Houston.
