Preview

Game one against the Reds was a dud to say the least, hopefully Jordan Lyles can spark the Astros to victory in game two tonight. (Yes this is wha it has come to, I'm making terrible puns)

Jordan Lyles in his career is 2-0 with 3.60 ERA over 4 appearances against the Reds. Lyles limped out of August with 5.67 ERA that month in five starts. In September, he's looked much sharper - collecting two straight quality starts. Lyles has a 6.04 ERA at home in 13 stats, almost double his road ERA of 3.61.

Zack Cozart, Todd Frazier, Cesar Izturis, and Joey Votto each have a home run against Lyles in their careers. Cozart's three hit (in 5 at-bats) off Lyles have all been extra-base hits - one home run and two doubles. Joey Votto is batting 5-for-7 lifetime against the right-hander with two double and a home run.

Mike Leake takes the mound for the Reds today. Leake was lights out between April and June, much like Mr. Lyles. He came back down to Earth with a 6.44 ERA in the month of August. The right-hander failed to get out of the sixth inning in his last start on September 11, but held the Cubs scoreless on 107 pitches. In that game he walked four batters for the first time since July 10 against the Brewers. Leake is 4-2 with a 2.78 ERA in seven career appearances at the Juice Box.

Jose Altuve is 4-for-12 in his career against Leake with a triple. Matt Dominguez has a solo home run in three at-bats life time against the right-hander. Brett Wallace is 2-for-7 with a walk against his fellow Sun Devil.
