The Angels' record this season against the Astros is 7-10. The Rangers and Athletics are a combined 29-6 against the Astros this season. Imagine if only the Angels were able to figure out how to win against Houston, and add 7 or 8 more wins to their 70 victories thus far. That would put the Angels right in the thick of things with the Rays, Indians, Yankees, and Orioles. Only three games separating five teams for a place in the postseason.

Well, that sounds like a personal problem for Los Angeles. The Astros hope to continue to dash the hopes of the Angels' season with Brett Oberholtzer on the mound. Obe' has been hot since being called up a the trade deadline, posting a 1.91 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP during that time. He has rebounded from a poor five-run outing against the White Sox at tge end of August with 15 innings of one-run baseball. Obe' faced the Angels on August 18 in Anaheim, he allowed three runs over six innings of work.

Josh Hamilton returned to form with Oberholtzer on the mound, collecting a double and home run in three at-bats. Mike Trout was also 2-for-3 with a double.Collin Cowgill, J.B. Shuck, and Mark Trumbo each had a hit in three at-bats.

The three-time All-Star Jered Weaver take the mound for the Angels, he was on the shelf for much of April and May with a fractured left elbow. Since he has returned, he has 9-7 record with a 3.24 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. Weaver has five straight quality starts coming today's game. He has missed facing the Astros in the two teams previous 17 meetings. Only Chris Carter has any previous at-bats against weaver, he is 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.
