Luhnow Impressed With Wojo in 5-4 Win
Wojo dealing. 8 punch outs so far, one out in eighth. Still 93 on the gun.
— Jeff Luhnow (@jluhnow) August 19, 2013
Well, at least that's what he makes it look like on twitter. Asher pitched pretty well and racked up a few strikouts last night which is something he hasn't exactly done a lot of in his time in AAA this year. Good time to break that out...I mean your boss is in town.
But, it wasn't just Wojo who let Luhnow know that they want a shot in the bigs. George Springer launched his 16th home run for Oklahoma City and his 35th of the season. He needs five more home runs and just one stolen base to be the rare 40/40 guy.

Kike Launches 12th HR in 3-1 Win
Enrique Hernandez doesn't get a lot of credit. I'm not saying he's a top prospect. But, I think he shouldn't be dismissed as readily as what most do. He plays hard. Has a decent walk rate. And, he strikes out less that 14% of the time. You add in some pop, and there's a lot to like. His batting average is a bit low this season, and you could say that it's a result of a low BABIP. He has a league average LD%, low GB%, and a high OFB%. He's entering the part of his career where power starts to really show up, hence the jump from six HR's last year to 12 this year. He definitely still has adjustments to make, but I wouldn't dismiss him yet. Not with his character.

Heineman Runs His Heine Off in 9-3 Win
It's not everyday that you see a catcher do a lot of running. They just don't like to run. They're brutal on their knees. Most have tree trunks for legs. But, Heineman is a different breed. He doesn't steal bases. He gets in the park home runs. Yeah...he hit his second in the park home run on the season last night. He's tied with Springer for the organizational lead. To top it all off, he also hit a triple. Hey, Andrew Aplin! Let him take your spot in center field!

Rio Walk Off 3-2
If you're gonna get into the double digits in home runs, you might as well do it in walk off fashion! Rio Ruiz decided to put the ball over the fence for the 10th time this season in the bottom of the 9th inning as the leadoff batter. His overall numbers still aren't pretty, but his improvement is obvious.

Cats Fall in the 11th 3-2
For the most part, the pitching staff was pretty good. Kevin Comer racked up some strikeouts, but also looked like he racked up his pitch count. Evan Grills wasn't sharp but limited damage to mostly what Eric Jagielo hit himself. I was Jagielo fan in this draft and the Yankees seemed to agree. Conrad Gregor drew two walks in the game which led to me to look at his numbers a little. We knew he could hit and he could draw walks. We knew he could hit home runs in the Cape. But, we also knew he didn't hit many at Vandy. That story continues. He's playing in an offensive environment with The Joe, yet he's still only hit three home runs and his SLG% is lower than his OBP. He only has three more strikeouts than walks which is impressive, but he's going to have to refine his mindset at the plate and start pulling some balls over the fence. He has the power to do it. He just has to do it. He has played in ten games in left field now, so maybe that is just not the area his focus is on right now.

G-Ville Loses Early 5-2 Due to Rain
Yep, blame the rain! They were primed and ready for a ninth inning comeback but the rain prevented it. As a team, the offense did very well at the plate as they drew nine walks but the hitting and walking just didn't time up right to get a few more runs. It also doesn't help that they didn't put together any extra-base hits.
