Vote for Springer
Come on Astros fans. George Springer is 3rd in the voting. #VOTESPRINGER #Astros http://t.co/ppLXs5hrvc

Go vote for George Springer. He's nominated for USA Today Minor League Player of the Year award. The dude is a huge part of the Astros future, and with 32 bombs and 38 steals, he's as deserving as any prospect. The Astros need to win something this season, so go vote for George!
The Jeff Luhnow Tour
Good win last night, Lo was clutch. Starting a tour of minor leagues today, plan to provide some tidbits and photos. To the desert...

Do yourself a favor, and watch this video. It was put together by the Padres Triple-A affiliate, the Tucson Padres.
Jason Lane Strikes Out Jon Singleton?
Normally I'd save this for the game recaps, but this is too good to be true.
Attention #Astros fans: Jason Lane is about to come in and pitch for Tucson against the RedHawks.
— Alex Freedman (@azfreedman) August 15, 2013
In case you hadn't heard, former Astros outfielder, Jason Lane, has revived his career as a Minor League PITCHER in the Padres organization. On Wednesday night, he lowered his ERA to 6.00 on the season, throwing 3.2 shutout innings against the RedHawks, STRIKING OUT Jonathan Singleton in the process. Singleton and Springer were a combined 0-3 off of Lane.
Oklahoma City (69-56)
The Redhawks lost their fourth consecutive game in the worst way possible. They held a one-run lead going into the ninth inning, where Hector Ambriz (SURPRISE!!!) allowed a walk-off three-run home run. To add insult to injury, Jason freakin' Lane went nearly four shutout innings against the Hawks.

Nick Tropeano pitched well – which has been somewhat of a rarity lately – but the Hooks failed to score a run against a makeshift group of pitchers, after Royals top prospect, Kyle Zimmer, left the game with arm stiffness. The loss marks the third straight for the Hooks. Below are the depressing details.

I was messing around on Fangraphs before the game, and these are a few of the tidbits I found on Carlos Correa's insanely impressive season:
Carlos Correa's wRC+ of 148 is the highest an 18-year-old has had in the Midwest League since Justin Upton's 117 in 2006. #Astros
— Jordan Sams (@astrosjordan) August 15, 2013
Only other 18-year-olds (since 2006) to put up a wRC+ of 148 or better in A-ball (MWL or SAL): Giancarlo Stanton and Freddie Freeman.
— Jordan Sams (@astrosjordan) August 15, 2013
Translation: Carlos Correa is going to be really really good in Orange and Blue.
