Martinez Can't Beat the Vegas Odds

It was David Martinez's debut for Oklahoma City but he couldn't beat Las Vegas. He cruised through the first three innings and wasn't looking bad but quickly fell apart. The walks started to pile up and the hits started coming. He's had a good season this year, but the peripherals have lagged behind. Triple-A will be a big challenge for him.

CC Gets Knocked Around in 7-4 Loss

Things got out of hand early as Kyle Hallock surrenedered four runs in four innings. Recently demoted reliever, Alex Sogard didn't let him feel a lone and gave up three over two innings. Carlos Quevedo was the only one to really have success. This pitching staff has taken a hit recently. The star studded group of tandem starters has lost the majority of that group. They've lost Asher Wojciechowski, Bobby Doran, Jake Buchanan and now David Martinez. Add in that Ruben Alaniz just hit the DL, and the rotation is looking thin. Seems like a perfect setup for Mark Appel to be promoted given that the information has been put out there that today's start will be his last in Quad Cities. The destination for his promotion is unknown though.

Lancaster Shoves Facts Into SportsCenter's Face with 9-8 Win

In case you missed it, ESPN took a cheap shot at the Astros over the weekend. They used the fact that the JetHawks gave up 30 runs in a single game as reason to say on SportsCenter that things are only going to get worse for the Astros in the future. Little did they know (because they didn't look up anything to do with the Astros minor league system at all) that the JetHawks have already clinched the first half of their division to lock up a playoff spot and have the leagues best record in the second half. Not to mention that the Astros system is one of the best in baseball and has eight members in the top 100 prospects that their very own Keith Law published. You'd think they would follow the work of their own co-workers. #Credibility

Holmes Blanks Wisconsin 5-0

Brian Holmes was on top of his game yesterday. Four baserunners spread across four innings is already quite impressive, but the highlight is that the lefty sent seven back to the dugout with their head hanging. He has a season ERA of 2.88. He's a bit old for the level, but I'd like to see him challenged.

Greeneville Can't Keep Up in 7-2 Loss

Austin Chrismon didn't have his best stuff and put two runners on because he pegged them and then walked another two. Add in a few hits, and it was a rough day on the mound. But, the wildness helped him get some nice strikeouts. But, he wasn't the only one to struggle. We've gotten used to seeing some good outings from Jordan Mills but yesterday wasn't one of them.
