MLB Draft 2013: Another Astros draftee will not sign

Virginia commit Daniel Pinero will reportedly attend college with the Cavaliers.

After getting another flurry of signings last week, the Astros might have missed on one. After getting a number of draft picks to sign late last week, including UNC catcher/outfielder Brian Holberton, the Astros appear to have missed out on 20th round pick Daniel Pinero.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch (h/t to Dustin Nguyen), Pinero will honor his scholarship with the Cavaliers.

Lefty Austin Nicely was drafted in the 10th round by the Houston Astros. Despite the late selection, he was offered and took a $610,000 bonus by the Astros, who will have to pay a luxury tax on the bonus.

Two other commits were drafted but will not sign - Canadian infielder Danny Pinero, who was picked by the Astros in the 20th round, and New Jersey catcher Matt Thaiss, who went to the Red Sox in the 32nd round.

The two big signees still out there are third-round pick Kent Emmanuel and 11th rounder Devante German. Houston has until July 15th to sign non-college seniors.

Here's our updated list of signees.
