Preview

As the front office works it's magic on the draft board, the major league team heads on a short two-series road trip. The Astros streak of success began with a series victory over the Royals, Houston heads to Kauffman Stadium for a rematch.

Jordan Lyles will toe the rubber the Astros today, in his second start against Kansas City this season. In Houston, Lyles scattered six hits and allowed only one run over six innings. The Royals only runs coming off a back-to-back triple by Jeff Francoeur and double by George Kottaras. Minus an 8-run outing to the Rangers, the Houston right-hander has a 2.67 ERA for the season.

On the mound for the Royals today is James Shields, who has one of the strangest stat-line of any pitcher in the majors at the moment - 2-6 record with an earned run average below three. Shields has allowed two runs or less in six of his last seven starts. In his start against Houston last month, Shields pitched seven innings of two-runs ball in a lossing effort. Houston's two runs came off a J.D. Martinez two-run home run. Both Martinez and Jason Castro were 2-for-3 against Shields with a run scored.
