Before the draft began, the TCB Minor League & Draft crew went through and ranked a lot of prospects to create our Top 100 list. Now that the first two rounds have passed, I'll use those rankings to determine how each team did.
I'll be using the raw points values for each prospect that a team took, and adding those values together to determine which teams did the best. With our rankings, voting someone as #1 gave them 100 points. #2 gave them 99 points, and so on. The highest possible point total for a single prospect was 500.
As you can imagine, teams with more draft choices tended to do better than teams with fewer draft choices. This is fair, because a team that walks away with four prospects did have a better draft. However, I'll also include a "per pick" value, which simply divides that team's total points by the number of prospects they got. The clear winner there was the Indians, who used their only pick to grab Clint Frazier, who was worth 487 points. The #2 team was your Houston Astros, who averaged 423 points with their two picks, Andrew Thurman and Mark Appel.
