Pitching Match

RHP Jordan Lyles (4-2 / 3.68 ERA / 1.59 WHIP) vs. RHP Joe Blanton ( 1-10 / 5.26 ERA / 1.53 WHIP)

Preview

Before making his start in Chicago, Jordan Lyles had allowed only eight earned runs over his last 44 2/3 innings. Lyles came back down to earth, allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits in a loss to Chicago. This will be Lyles' second start against the Angels this season, previously striking out 11, and allowing three earned runs in five innings of work. In that start, Mike Trout, J.B. Shuck, and Erick Aybar all collected a double against Lyles.

Joe Blanton appears to be heading in the right direction in the month of June. Three of his four starts thus far have been quality starts. Including a start against the Astros at the beginning of the month, he pitched eight innings and allowed only two earned runs. Also sprinkled in between those quality starts, is a more par for the course 6 run outing against Boston. Chris Carter is batting .333 against Blanton with two home runs.Matt Dominguez is 3-6 with two doubles off Blanton.
