Pitching Match

LHP Erik Bedard (2-3 / 4.43 ERA / 1.45 WHIP) vs. RHP Lance Lynn (10-1 / 3.42 ERA / 1.16 WHIP)

Preview

Erik Bedard takes the mound for the Astros today against the Red Birds. Bedard has completely turned his game around since being demoted to the bullpen after his May 1 start. Since that date, the left-hander has given up two runs or less in seven of his last eight starts. Bedard has collected a record of 2-1 and a 3.06 ERA in those eight starts. He was 1-3 against the Cardinals in 4 starts last season, with a collective 6.33 ERA in those four starts. Allen Craig (9 AB / .444 AVG / 1 HR / 3 RBI) and Yadier Molina (8 AB / .500 AVG / 1 HR / 3 RBI) have had their way with Bedard.

Lance Lynn is having tremendous season thus far in 2013, recording 10 wins in 15 tries. In a tale of two starts, Lynn gave up 7 runs to the Marlins and 1 run to the Cubs in his last last two starts - he collected a win both starts. One corresponding factor, Lance Lynn has the highest run support of any pitcher in the major currently, 6.80 runs per start. Against the Astros in his carrer, Lynn is 4-0 with 1.42 ERA. I repeat, Brett Wallace's return was timed perfectly - the Redhawks' first baseman Wallace the only Astro with more then one hit off Lynn (2-10).
