LHP Erik Bedard (0-0 / 0.00 ERA / 0.30 WHIP) vs. LHP Brandon Maurer (0-1 / 9.00 ERA / 1.33 WHIP)

Preview

Erik Bedard returns to Seattle where he pitched from 2008 to 2011 with a stops in the minors and Boston in between. Bedard was solid in his first work of 2013, pitching 3.1 innings in relief of Bud Norris for the save on Opening Night. Originally scheduled to pitch on Saturday, Bedard was pushed back to give Bud Norris and Lucas Harrell normal reset between starts. The Seattle hitters have very little history against Bedard, the same goes for the Astros against Maurer.

Seattle's starter, Brandon Maurer, is making his second starter after making the jump from AA to the Major over the spring. Maurer's first outing, 6 ER over 6 inning pitched against the A's. The Astros will be looking to snap their six game slide against the rookie. Unfortunately, the Astros have a long tradition of making pitchers they face for the first time look like Cy Young.
