Two things happening off the field that Astros fans should know about.

Tribute for Heroes

There are two things that MLB has always done well: honor the past and honor our military service members.

Major League Baseball and PEOPLE Magazine have teamed up on a campaign to recognized our country's heroes. From now and until May 17th fans can nominate an active or former military service members of the Armed Forces in either the United States or Canada for a chance to represent their favorite MLB team at the 2013 All-Star Game.

Three active or former military service members per team will be selected by MLB, People and a celebrity panel of judges. From June 9th through June 30th fans will have an opportunity to vote online for one of the three veterans. Winners will be announced on July 10th and take part in the All-Star Week festivities, be recognized at the All-Star Game, as well as be featured in PEOPLE magazine the week of the MLB All-Star Game.

If you would like to nominate a former or active service member go to www.TributeForHeroes.com and click on nominate now.

MLB Network and DIY Network have joined forces to present the "Pin Your Turf, We'll Crash Your City!" contest. Nine Major League teams are featured on DIY Pinteret board and the Astros are one of those nine teams. If the Astros get the most re-pins Yard Crashers will invade Houston and select one lucky Astros fan to do a homerun outdoor makeover. The episode will be shot this summer and premier in 2014.
