Not a lot of action through the first four innings but things started to heat up in the fifth.
5th Inning
Brendan Ryan executes the hit and duck:
He would eventually reach base and the Philip Humber would eventually load the bases with one out. Michael Morse would then come to the plate batting .400+ in 30 something plate appearances with the bases loaded. Not this time as the Astros executed an inning ending double play (watch Humber's reaction):
Game Thoughts
With only two GIFs I'm sure many of you were able to deduce that this game wasn't that interesting of a game to watch.
Philip Humber pitched well in six innings of work by allowing three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two Mariner hitters. Wesley Wright and Rhiner Cruz followed with shutout innings. The offense never really got anything going and added eight strikeouts to their historic pace.
Only "light hitting" Matt Dominguez and "non-prospect' Brandon Barnes reached base multiple times. Dominguez via two hits and Barnes via a hit and a walk.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Erik Bedard takes on his former team in his first start of the season. He already has a save so it would be awesome if he gets his first win.
